So Mr. Barry, our esteemed dealer principal, had tears in his eyes a few months ago. He said he was beyond humbled to be awarded the
Magna Society Award from Audi as one of their top 50 dealers in the country. He couldn't believe that our small country dealership could earn such recognition. It was truly the finest moment in his professional life. So when the president of Audi presented him with a beautiful plaque and said "Mr. Barry what else can we do to recognize your achievements?" Mr. Barry didn't blink and blurted out, "I would give anything for an R8 Spyder...I would be buried in it, I would keep it until the end of my days and then give it to my son Mortimer and when he passed on he could leave it in the family?" So, Audi built not just any R8 Spyder for Mr. Barry, but
the R8 Spyder. Brilliant Red with Luxor Beige Leather, Piano Black Inlays, Enhanced Leather Package, R-Tronic Transmission, Navigation, even Custom Floor Mats.
So why are we now making the R8 Spyder custom built for Mr. Barry available? Let's ask Mr. Barry:
"
Friends, Audis are in short supply and I don't think I can put my welfare ahead of my dealership and its clients. I think it is a profile in courage that I give up my beloved R8."
(What a crock! This guy is really good.) So now Mr. Barry has driven it for 363 miles. We told him not to drive it if he was going to sell it but
noooo, he promised he would never drive it. I hear that after Mr. Barry ripped two pairs of pants trying to get his fat butt into the cockpit, he had enough.
So now that our corporate brain surgeon did what he does best...lie through his teeth, we're paying the price. A cool $16,000 (yes $16,000!) off sticker for a 363 mile Red Spyder driven by none other (and no other) than Mr. Barry. Oh, he insisted that I term this a "bold sacrifice from a brave Audi warrior."THIS JUST IN: it's true.. Check it out: Audi is not going to build anymore brilliant red R8 Spyders.
